How can I take a DNA Test?DNA collectors operate mobile units that travel to different locations such as nursing homes, community health centers, your private residence, or remote areas to facilitate sample collection. Our test kit enables collection of cheek cell samples using sterile oral swabs. The procedure is done in a matter of seconds and is absolutely painless.

How does it work for a DNA test?DNA samples are collected from the child and the alleged father. This is done using a cheek swab, which is non-invasive and painless. The collected samples are sent to a laboratory for analysis. In the lab, DNA is extracted from the cells in the samples. The DNA contains genetic markers, called alleles, that are inherited from biological parents. The laboratory technicians analyze specific regions of the DNA where genetic variations (polymorphisms) occur. Based on the analysis, the lab calculates a probability of paternity. For example, when testing an alleged father and child, this probability is expressed as a percentage likelihood that the alleged father is the biological father of the child. Typically, results with a probability of 99% or higher are considered conclusive for paternity. Last, the laboratory issues a report detailing the findings of the analysis. It’s important to note that DNA testing for paternity is highly accurate when performed by accredited laboratories following standardized procedures. The results are legally admissible in many jurisdictions and can have significant implications for child custody, child support, inheritance rights, and emotional well-being.

Do I need to test the mother? In a standard paternity DNA test, involving the mother is not always necessary but can be beneficial under certain circumstances. The most common scenario involves testing the child and the alleged father. This type of test compares the child's DNA with that of the alleged father to determine if there is a genetic match that supports paternity. While not required, including the biological mother in the test can sometimes provide additional clarity and accuracy. There are specific situations where the mother's participation may be required by legal or procedural standards, such as in legal disputes or immigration cases. Ultimately, whether the mother needs to be tested depends on the specific circumstances and requirements of the paternity test being conducted. It's advisable to consult with a legal professional to determine the appropriate approach based on the specific situation.
